August Dizzle's super-official debut album is dropping in late August of 2005. August putting out an album in August, get it? It's not all that hilarious, I guess.

The Cellar is completely written, produced and mixed by yours truly and features Synergy rhymer-in-crime Kurram. Here is the first review of the album:

"

Bring some of that East Coast Hip Hop -- along with some nice "arty" experimentation -- is an emcee/producer by the name of August (who is also one of half of a crew by the name of Synergy along with fellow-minded Kurram) and his solo disc, "The Cellar". To say that this record is tight would be an understatement as throughout the course of 30 minutes you are taken on a ride through the world of August where just about anything can happen with diverse musicianship (where the Muppet Show and Andy Griffith samples mesh with solid backing beats), a unique flow and an interesting sense of humor.

Through the course of 11 tracks you get the feeling of being transported back to a time when lo-fi sound quality was king, and it was all about tight beats, and flows as opposed to million dollar studio budgets and a marketing machine behind you pushing what it believes to be hot instead of what's REALLY hot. Well, August is definitely hot, and "The Cellar" only serves as further proof of that. "The Cellar" is an album with a nice old school vibe -- which I definitely enjoy -- and should appeal to heads out there who are looking for something out of the ordinary with it's emphasis on creative musicianship and a distinctive flow.

Standouts include "It Came From The Cellar", "Makeshift Instruments", "Crying Out (The Ballad of Johnny Nobody)", "Story To Tell" and the closer "Reflections of a Sunset". Although these are the standouts in my opinion there is something here for everyone, and I'm sure that everyone will have their own favorites when they get the chance to hear the record in it's entirety -- which I'd recommend that you all take a chance and do as this is definitely some ill shit with a mission and a sense of fun that is almost entirely lacking in the current state of Hip Hop. Recommended!

Review by Kevin X" Rating: 8 out of 10.

Click here for a link to the review.

I'll have more information on the album soon... including stores to buy, release parties, etc...

For now, you can check Kurram and I out July 20th over at Free Street Taverna in Portland, ME with RAYGUNOMICS (Nomar Slevik & Brzowski) and LAB SEVEN.

And for those fans of La Fiesta Del Cellar, the July edition is coming soon.

La Fiesta Del Cellar - June 2005!!!

Greetings from the Green Monster! I'm Mike Greenwell aka August Dizzle the third aka The-MC-DJ-who'll-put-a-foot-in-your-ass-then-hang-out-with-your-sister! I'll be your host on this fantastic voyage through music. I like to focus on hip hop shit because well, I like the stuff and sometimes I even make my own...

so allow me to break down what's going on for you in the world of indie rap currently...

Buck 65's new album, "Secret House Against The World" hits shelves June 28th. The album features collaborations with Gonzales and Tortoise. My guess is as good as any of yours... Stinkin' Rich is certainly an unpredictable character and musically I don't know what to expect but I have been hearing good things so hit up the man's website for more info.
